I have a 98 f-150 with 150k miles. Alot of miles but I have never had a single problem. I drove it sat.and it ran great, but when I started it sun. there was a loud knocking. When I press the gas it got louder and faster knocking. Does anyone have a clue what it may be???
I have '99 with 4.2l. I have had the problem also. It seams to happen on damp cold days.I read somewhere they called it piston slap.It mainly happened when I drove short drives around town, then the following morning it would happen. I would shut it off and restart engine and it went away everytime. I put new wires and plugs in at 90k and it helped. It has happened since, but if i baby it for few blocks, it will go away.
