Engine Knocking on a 5.4
I have a 2006 F-150 with a 5.4 that has 75,000 miles on it and I have owned it for the last 3 years and bought it with 14,000 miles. I have never had a problem with my truck until I started to hear a knock. It started to occur when driving on vaction through the mountains of West Virginia, and North Carolina. I noticed first when using the cruise while going up the mountains before it would kick down to a lower gear to get up the side. It has never done that before, even towing my boat under a load. I kept my ear open and it seems like it is getting a little louder and know can hear it even when there is no load when the crusie is on at a low RPM. I changed the oil before I left, put 2300 miles on in two weeks and then changed the oil when I got home and the knock is still there. I have always had my local Ford shop service my truck. Is the knocking going to lead to a big problem. Looking for some advice as what to do.
Jim
