I am a long time diesel owner but never with an automatic. This is my first post (new guy) to this forum and it is probably an issue that has beed visited before, but I am going to do my scheduled maintenance on my tranny this weekend and was curious what you all thought about Lubrication Engineering LE7500 tranny fluid or is there one that everyone prefers.
Personally, I've never heard of that brand, so I can't speak to that product. I do know that a lot of guys run a synthetic ATF to help keep the temps down. If the stuff you're talking about is synthetic, you're probably on the right track.
According to every source I've uncovered, including the "How to change tranny fluid tutorial", https://www.ford-trucks.com/articles...hangingatf.php
Just make sure you're not using Mercon V on the E40D or the 4R100. Nobody said what type to use but, the manual here in my hands just says motorcraft Mercon, so I'm assuming Mercon III falls into that category. I'm going to do my tranny fluid soon and I am going to dbl check this out before I do it, might even go down to Ford and just buy from them if the price isn't too bad...
Quadzilla, It is used in most all of the large automatic transmissions (large delivery trucks, farm equiptment, ect. Allison Approved) the company claims that it is better that synthetic for these Ford transmissions. They have testimonials that say it lowers tranny temp. by 25 to 35 deg and has firmer shifts. I have heard from several service companys around here not to use synthetic fluid because it makes the transmission shift funny.
Thanks for the information. I'm not well versed in what he bigger trucks use, but I know that a large number of guys use synthetic ATF in trucks like ours without complaint.
