I am 17 years old and i have a 92 Explorer. I have been losing power to my truck, and i had the old altenator checked, and it was bad. I bought another one yesterday (130 amp) and i put it on last night. Well, on my way home I began to lose power and my volt meter started dopping again. I got to the road that my house is on and it went completely dead and i coasted into my driveway. I thought i could have had a dry cell in my battery, but i had a guy tell me to get that altenator checked and if it isn't that then it is probably the wire to my starter? What does anyone think is going on?? Earlier I charged up my battery and put it in and it did the same exact thing. It ran pretty good and then when I shut it off and went to restart it, it was like the battery didn't have enough juice to start my explorer?
I would really appreciate it if somone could give me some good advice to follow......PLZZZZ!!!!
well, I live in Haviland Oh., a small town in paulding county
Have you had the 130 amp alternater checked yet? I would. The place you bought it from may have sold you a bad one. It happens. AutoZone is know for that hear in Cincy.
The problem does sound like the alternater. A bad starter wire won't let you start the truck, even with a good battery.
If the alternater is good, then start checking the wires that run off the alternater. There could be some corrsion on them.
Yes, it does sound like the alternator, not putting out enough juice to run equipment and charge the battery. If you bought a remanufactured alternator if could be bad. I have replace many
thru out the years and have had my share of bad remans and a few new alternators.
