Currently own a 2001 F250SD V10/Short bed/Crew Cab with the 4.30 rear.
I am upgrading to a 5th wheel- Looked at many with the general dry weight in the 7-8000 pound range.
We came across one weighing in a t 9700Dry. I am concerned that this will max out the truck- The hitch weight is around 1800.
Any pulling this much with a similiar truck?? If so- thoughts? advice?
Should I stick with the ones under 8K?
I am pulling an 8000lb (wet) trailer and and can't hardly tell it's back there. Ford says max 5th wheel weight for your truck is 13600.
I would look at GVWR of the trailers you want to see what the max would be. Dry weight will only tell part of the story. After adding accessories (A/C and awnings are an accessory), water, propane, and your stuff, you will be suprised at the total weight.
I usually weigh in between 22,000 and 28,000 pounds with my F-250 and have not had any problems. I would not be woried with a 10,000 pound trailer. Hope this helps
