An interesting and respectable opinion, but what if a guy doesn't want to pay or can't aford the $5000 premium for the diesel but needs more towing power than the 5.4L provides?
The new 3-valve per cylinder 300hp 5.4L is still no match in towing power compared to the 6.8L, and the 6.8L only adds $600 to the sticker price of a Superduty. Just a thought.
Yes the 460 may produce less power, but produces power more reliable than the V10 because of the 8:1 compression ratio and iron heads. The 460 is a proven design, pushrod V8's cannot be beat for reliablity. I have nothing against the V10, it produces nice power for the displacement, But the 460 was produced for over 30 years and most parts are interchangeable. By the way I can get 14mpg empty with my 460.
