I have been thinking about this very topic my self and all the research I have done point to gagues first. You need to get some base line reading with the truck being stock this way you can tell if the other mods you do have a positive or negitive effect on your trucks preformance. If you don't want to install gauges then I would say bigger exhaust along with open air filter to let the motor breath more.
4" exhaust- high flow intake- guages then a chip or programmer.
They're both right. Regardless of the order you do the first three, the programmer or chip comes last. Get the things that control/measure heat before you get the thing that creates heat.
Thanks for the information. I am still in between whether to upgrade with the issue being wear and tear on the vehicle. Are there any opinions on this?
Wear and tear on the vehicle is a result of driving habits. With all my mods, I'm not shortening the life of my engine unless I drive abusively, and you don't need mods to do that.
I first did the guages then programer. By having the guages I found that when I put the programer on with the stock exhaust I was having to high of exhaust gas temp, so I had to put the exhaust on being that I was actualy loosing performance.
