gas tank strap
A few days ago, I noticed that a white nylon strap that used to go around my gas tank was cut and hanging loose.
Is this supposed to be holding the weight of the tank?
I would think that the tank would be held by metal straps, but this is white nylon.
I have a 2000 F350 CC V10.
Any clues as to what this is for?

It fell out of the rear strap on my 1994 around 56,000 miles and I never replaced it. Nothing bad ever happened to the tank. I guess if you have a metal tank like the old trucks, it doesn't matter but you might want to replace it if you have a plastic tank. (I know the '03 do.) I think the insulators just keep the straps from vibrating.
