ok. i am installing a ford keyless entry and alarm (p/n: F7AZ-19A361-AA) on my 98 f150, the instructions say to find the power and ignition wires in the ignition switch wire harness, by checking the voltage, my problem is, i don't want to cut all the wires open to find them. the wiring diagram that came with it doesn't show which ones they are. it just has color code for a starter, 12 volt constant, and a 12 volt switched. any ideas?
Power in at all times are the Y, LG/P and O/Y wires.
Start is R/LB.
Ignition is DB/LG.
Accessories such as wipers are Bk/LG.
Accessories such as heater are Gy/Y.
tamu05: What did the ford Kit cost you? I have a remote starter from target waiting for a t-connector to install without splicing all the wires, and I figured if the ford kit was cheap enough, I could go that route. Or do you have to splice a lot of wires with the ford kit?
i didn't get the remote start yet, but i am planning on buying it in the next week or 2, but it is going to be a ford one. i bought my alarm and keyless entry off e-bay for $150, took awhile to figure out how to hook it up, but i just finished it about an hour ago. its nice. let me know how that remote starter of yours works out, i might just do the same.
yeah, i would rather splice than use those connectors. i was just worried about having to cut into everywire trying to find the right one. the instructions sucked, so i was confused. but it works and i like it. no more trying to unlock my doors in the rain with a key
