427 block/428 crank

I know that 427 blocks just aren't falling off of trees these days, but how common is this combination?

Math says you'd have a 448 cu. in. engine with tons of stroke.

Would there be issues with deck height? Pistons?

It is a very common combination among those lucky enough to own a 427 block. The 428 crank uses the standard 427 rods and most piston manufacturers have a piston on the shelf with the correct compression height. If there is a downside it is that you may not want to run it to 7500rpm anymore, though some do.

I did this with my 427 way back in the 80's. TRW had the pistons then for the crank swap. And , yes it drove the Chevy guys nuts when you said it was a 454, but had the wrong valve covers.
