Just finished replacing thermostat in my '92 F250 7.3 i.d.i NA
Old one was missing 1/2 the rubber seal on the tstat body & was pleased with the change in my gauge.Now rides up to the "O" in normal about 1/3 way up
bad news is heater is even worse, felt supply hose HOT
Felt return hose it is Cold,
checked fluid level it is full,
Now it heater is good for 5min then poor for the majority of a run 30mi,
Me thinks it needs a heatercore flush
What is the opinion of the members reading this?
Wheree i is that valve that controls the coolant flow to heater core.That was my next question to post!
I ran it 6 hrs today & some times its warm sometimes its cool, Never as hot as b4 the cold came to s.Ont.
Engine temp is riding staedy at 1/3 up on guage.
What about installing a direct temp guage in these i.d.i.?
how cold is the outside temp? if your heat works when you are sitting still and goes away as you are driving you need to consider putting a cold front on the front of your truck , it could be something as simple as a piece of cardbboard in between the grill and the radiator. its a real popular fix up here and it you are getting heat, cold, heat , cold , that could be the problem, good luck,bob p.s. heater control should be on the firewall where the hoses for the heater go thru, desiels dont make heat , and your guage should be at least midway , could you have gotten to cold of a thermostat , its happened and the best place to start is the last thing fixed .might cover all the bases and do a radiator flush prior to anything else
