Engine manufacture date
Welcome!!! Look above the oil filter adapter for a small cast in tag-that will have a date code-like 5F14. We will also need the casting number from above the starter mount location to help. The trans originally had a small metal tag with some code letters and numbers on it. I think it was near the accumulator cover?? Might be way off on that! Any numbers you find will help pin it down. Good luck!

I think the # from the adapter is the adapter # not the block. T he block # will be ****6015* and is located above the starter.(*can be # or letter) The C8AE head was used for several years, a suffix (letter) should be after it, maybe across from where it is located. The C4SE-A intake with the 3L6 code has me a little
, normally the first digit is year of production, letter is month, last is day of month. So 3=1963? or 1973 prolly '63, L= December and 6 is 6th day of Dec. That intake was originally installed on Thunderbirds so it has been swapped.
Is the intake a 4-barrel? Look at the drivers side front of the block under the head/deck surface for any casting info. FWIW the prefix tells decade ,year, carline and division of Ford that designed the part the suffix tells how many changes have been made to the original design,A=first,B=second, and so on. That's why the intake is most likely cast in 1963.
Hope this helps!!
