ok i have a 93 ranger and wanted to know if anyone knows the best 5.0 and tranny to put in would be and how much it would cost for motor, tranny, headers, and what ever else i might need
For a 93, well, I like EFI, so I'd try a Mustang 93-95ish 5.0 setup. Plenty of kits for that.
Cost? Heh....try 10k and if you finish under that estimate--depends on your part selection for one thing--thank me later.
Lots of things figure into that cost. If I went the v8 route in my 94, I'd want 94-95 parts like the engine and harness and I will live with stock parts, so I would do better than my estimate of $10k.
Go with all aftermarket (performance crate 347, etc) and you'd get real close to blowing away said estimate.
Find 30 year old parts in a junkyard and you'd go in pretty cheaply.
96 Explorer!
It already has the oil filter relocator, short waterpump/timing cover, oilpan, headers to drop right in. Perfect fit. Eveything else is a nightmare.
