does this ever get your panties in a bunch like it does me, when you see products like VCRs, or stereos, or computers?
I mean who do the manufacturers think they are, some users can't service stuff, but don't the techs that do the service also use them in day to day life?
I was wondering if one day cars will be like that, maybe even needing a special tool to open the hood.what do you guys think?
Thats why I love my 73 F 250 ! It's chock full of user serviceable parts and not a black box in site. It's easy to fix and has never left me stranded yet. Can't say the same for my modern era trucks.
Ice9, Do you notice a considerable reduction in performance in your 73 when your driving around Taos at those high altitudes with a carbourated engine???just curious........s.kutreman

That reminds me of a few years back the small radio I had in my shop quit and I got tired of messing with it and pitched it out the door and fired a full mag from my .45 into it, just as a buddy was driving up to visit, he saw the whole thing and didin't even get out of his truck he just drove off, he told me about it a month later.

This one was stuck on and on the same channel and had membrane switches . . .
I read somewhere that Volvo is building a non-user-serviceable car. It won't have a hood, it's designed so the one-piece front end has to be removed by a technician.
It's geared toward women, who (according to them) have no reason to be under the hood and don't do their own maintenance.
I'll stick to stuff I can work on, thanks.

I had an old truck a few years ago with a radio that would only pick up one station. I listeded to Rush Limbaugh 3 times a day. It was okay at first, but after about a month I yanked that thing and discovered that, by using the frisbee technique, I could sail a radio close to 3 yards (neighbors' yards that is). Yep, I almost turned liberal on that one.

Yep it's like a different truck at sea level but it's just something you get used to. I keep it tuned up well and it handles 10,000 ft passes with out too much trouble.
