I just found this forum and started looking throught the posts and this look like the place I need to be.
I have a 2002 F250 Crew Cab 4x4 v-10 that I have had sense september and this saturday it did not want to idle it only has 6,500 miles on it. it was fine when I started it but after a short drive it started ideling real low and would sometimes stall at a stop light so I drove it to the ford dealer and it was running fine when I got there so I made an appointment for this morning and they looked at it and read the computer and found no problem and it has been running fine it only did it for about an half hour on saturday but made me worry. Is this a problem that anybody else has had is this common. I do not drive the truck much pretty much only on weekends so I do not know if it could have gotten wet or something saturday was real hot and humid and it had rained friday night if that helps.
Sorry for the long post and will appreciate any replies
Thanks
Wayne
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 22-Jul-02 AT 06:31 PM (EST)]Check and clean the idle air bypass valve located on the throttlebody. It could be a million things though.
I don't want to give you bad info. But I believe you may want to have the idle control solenoid checked out.I seem to remember previous posts about it.Haven't been under my hood much to see what's there due to work and the relative newness of my SD.
Drive it until the tank needs refilled. If the problem persists, let us know.
If it does not return, chalk it up to moisture, gremlins, strange truck spirits, the position of the moon in relation to Orion, sunspots, El Nino, Global Warming, aliens or The Government.
Thanks guys for the input I will check the idel air control and see what it looks like but its been running fine it was just that one day so I am thinking that moisture just built up somewhere and caused a problem until it worked it's way out.
IAC valve could be the problem as pointed out -or- it could be the MAF sensor. mine was coated with oil from my k&n filter and had the same symptoms as you have described... the dealer replaced mine after slaping my wrists for having teh k&n filter..... i have found out since that you can clean the sensor (wire in the center of the MAF) with some carb cleaner and a que-tip (be careful as the wire can break and a new MAF is around $400).
