This is my second post I've started, the first paid off great! I love this forum. I'm not sure if this is the correct place, but I believe it would be to post this. Anyhow, here is my question. I just bought a 73 (newer body on it) pickup. 4 wheel drive, 390 in it. I paid $100, with a Western plow unit, but no blade. I also have an 86 with a Western unit and blade, which is shot. Runs great, but many problems and more rust than body. Anyhow, the one I bought has no front drive shaft going to the front axle. My question is, will the 86 shaft go into the 73? I'm assuming it won't, but thought I'd ask. Also, what year shafts will interchange with this pickup? Give me a better idea of who to see to get a shaft that will work. Thanks!
Hmmm... I would try something from a '79 or earlier and stay with the same weight (100, 250, or 350) and cab configuration truck. I think half tons use 1310 series yokes and 3/4 and one tons use 1350's if I remember correctly. I have no idea about the '86 going on a '73. Measure it.
They're both about the same weight, both 3/4 ton trucks. We're going to check it out soon, just figured I'd post and see if anyone else had any idea if it would or wouldn't work. I'm hoping it will, saves me some money! Thanks for the reply.
