So it's been about three months now since I finished the rebuild of my 302 engine. It's running great, however, it's been eating up coolant. It will suck down everything in the coolant resivoir (when filled to the 'cold fill' line) within three weeks.
I've never been able to see any coolant in the exhaust system, and I'm not seeing anything in the oil either. I also can't find any leaks.
Anyone have any ideas? I've heard something about a "leak down" test, what is that?
The leak down test is actually a coolant system pressure test. most auto parts places will do it for you. It pressurizes your system without the vehicle running and you watch the guage to see if it drops. If the guage drops look around for the leak, You will usually see drips somewhere if its an external leak.
