Nightmares...PLS Help ASAP

Well guys, after fixing my Alternator problem, more things have gone wrong. I was changing my thermostat/coolant and I presume I shorted my Coil. Now it runs, but I'm timing the motor to get it running good, and my timing reads 25 on my gun. The motor also wont idle below around 760 rpm and it's driving me nuts. The only thing I can imagine is that it was running extremely rich before? I'm assuming I have to tune the carburetor. Any ideas why it would die below like 700 rpm and why the timing is so crazy? I can take the idle screw ALL the way out, and it still runs at like 600 rpm for a short time. It doesnt idle any lower than that for some reason.

Thanks guys

Okay, first of all you proably have a TFI ignition setup. Remove the "spout" connector, and check the timing, it should be 10 degrees. If you advance the timing it'll speed the engine up at idle. Also it's a feedback carb, if it's carbed. If it's EFI then it's whole 'nother can of worms.
