Help! My 1999 is rusting on all four doors and tailgate.
Dealer said it was not uncommon, but it is out of warranty.
What scares me is that 80% of 1999 - 2000 trucks in their used
lot were rusting also. I've been searching the web to find a
answer but no luck.
Can anybody help me.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 18-Jun-02 AT 06:00 AM (EST)]I thought the warranty against body panel rust ran longer than the normal 3year 36 month typical warranty??
If Not, get it fixed now or it will lead to a bigger more expensive job later.
Edit: The Ford website says 5 yr on corrosion ONLY IF IT IS PERFORATION ( HOLES IN PANELS)AND IS NOT THE RESULT OF USAGE AND /OR ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS.
IMHO, this sux big time. They seem to only warranty paint deffects.
Shouldn't a factory paint hold up better than 3 friggin years at $30k+ ????
Obviously, wheather conditions are going to effect the paint, kind of a no brainer there.
I did a complete on my 99, (roll over) but did not notice any surface rust when I was dissasembling.
My dealer is preparing to repair my 2002 Lariat PSD on the inside of the driver's side rear door sill. No questions asked. The worst part is that the truck was bought new in March 2002, has only 4400 miles and I reside in Southern California.
This does seem to be a very common flaw on these trucks, which is a da*n shame.
Ive been told that the trucks that were rusting are the ones that were manufactured somewhere else besides the Kentucky Plant. Where have your rigs been built? :-staun
