Recently me and a friend of mine took our rangers off roadin. On the way back i kept hearing what kinda sounds like grinding from the front brakes. I just figured it was some mud on there and it would burn off. Well its been almost 2 days now. My uncle said it kinda sounds like i need new pads because it sound like metal to metal contact. I just wanted to make sure this is what it is.
Really the only way to tell is to take the wheel off and see how thick the pads are.If it's not too cold where you are, roll your window down and drive around the block.Try to use the brakes quite a bit and listen to the sound of it.If it's thin pads,it will make a squeeling sound. That's an easy fix.Any retail parts store keeps those pads on hand and you can have them on in an hour or 2.It's not a big deal .
Thanks,
I my dad and I took it up to his work today. He is a mechanic at one of the local ford dealerships. He thought it was just mud rubbing but once he put it on the lift we notice the right front was gone. Metal to Metal. It only took bout 5-10 minutes to replace both sides. But i guess it would have taken longer if i did it at home huh.
