I went on the Disney cruise for my honeymoon. ITS NOT FOR KIDS. We stay at the Beach Club resort for three days and then were on the ship for fourdays. Near the resort is Downtown Disney which is only for adults, then of course there's the regular park which is enjoyable. The ship has 12 levels! You roll through the Bahamas as well as Disney's island in the Bahamas. Just my two cents.

My wife and I have enjoyed Club Med at different locations. They have family clubs that offer programs for the non-risque if you please, they also have archeological villages that are quite interesting.
Meals are buffet style and beer & wine are free at lunch and dinner. There are usually one or two fancy restaurants on the Club site, you just have to reserve seats. At the clubs or bars you have to buy beads to exchange for mixed drinks or beer.
The only thing that I remember that wasn't included was the scuba diving rentals and off site excursions. they have entertainment every night and enough activities to make you hide in your room.
I know that it's not everyones cup of tea but throw it out for consideration.
My Mrs. and I no longer do the all-inclusive thing. Instead we rent a house or cabana and go native for a month, usually February. We buy local fruit and breads, juice, coffee, yogurt and such and have a little breakfast then hit the beach on even day and town on odd days. Lunch and dinner are wherever we happen to be unless we have plans to meet friends. All in all we stay a month for what it costs a week at an all inclusive or for a cruise.
Whatever, you choose I'm sure your wife will be thrilled just to get away. I know mine is.
JK

I would also highly recommend a cruise. That was one of the best vacations I've ever been on. Back in 2002 we took the Voyager cruise, (7 days) and stopped at 4 different islands. The ship was unreal. It was 1100 feel long, and you hardly know your in the middle of the ocean. We LOVED it. Not cheap by far (we stayed in the stateroom with the balcony, wet bar, etc.) but definatly worth it.

Just my 02. centz.

I'm going to assume your looking at the caribbean and not really considering places like Tahiti or Fiji. So I'll tell you about my experience in the carribean.

My wife and disagree about the concept of "all-inclusives". She loves all-inclusives, I don't. However, of all the all-inclusives we've been to, Couples Negril in Negril, Jamacia was the best. Far better than the two Sandals resorts we've been to. Couples only allows couples. No kids, no single adults, and I believe no homosexuals in case that matters to you.

The food was better than Sandals and top-shelf liquer was no extra charge, but you had to ask for it. Everything was covered, all water sports, food, drinks, etc. All except for the cuban cigars. My only complaints:

1. Only beer was Red Stripe and it was never really as that cold.
2. Paying for everything up front takes away the incentive for customer service in my opinion. Although it was still decent.

One great thing though... never having to take money or ID anywhere with you. Just lock it up in room's safe and forget it until you leave.

It was an expensive week... $4200 for 8 days. Mexico is a better value but "Bloody Bay" in Negril is a surreal paradise.

My recomendation depends on what your looking for. Do you want to really see the country and culture or just be pampered. If you want to leave the resort and see the country, I would not recommend Jamacia.

If you want to snorkel/scuba then Grand Cayman is hard to beat. Fishing... Mexico (gulf side) is hard to beat for sailfish and Cabo san Lucas is hard to beat for Marlin. St. Bart's, V.I. is really nice but expensive.

FOM if you are serious and you are an adult that does not want to deal with a bunch of HS kids then I have just the place for you. I have really been all over the world and that is not bragging. If you want to go some place both romantic and not expensive then you want to go to Haultuco, Oaxaca Mexico. It is secluded, mature and you can get some much needed rest and quality time. The food is fantastic and cheap compared to America. In fact if you fly into Oaxaca and drive to Haultuco you will also get to see the city of Oaxaca the numerous ruins as well. Talk about a vacation they have an incredible museum and the hotels are very clean anc cheap. Oh and round trip flight to Oaxaca is around $300 per person right now. Now if you want Island beachs I would recomend either Philipines or although not an Island Vietnam. You can shop till you drop and not even dent your wallet. And dance clubs are everywhere. Anyway my wife and I like to explore and eat local foods so that is the kind of places we go. I am in Colombia and I have heard that the beaches here are some of the best in the world. What I can tell you is that the food is wonderful and the cities I have been in are beautiful. Bring some really dark sunglasses though......not for the sun but so that your wife does not see you looking at all of the most incredible beautiful woman I have ever seen. Thank god mine is at home or I would have several knotts on my head. Ed

Ah, I got to throw my hat into the ring.

Cruise, dude. My wife and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Wait, scratch that. This being a Ford site and all. "Hoof beat"

We did a 7 day Mexican Riviera cruise on Royal Caribbean. Had a blast. I know what you are saying about your wife possibly getting sea sick. My wife "felt" it coming on, but never showed symptoms, and never got sick. I think the hardest part for her was after the formal dinner (because it was so late) we'd go back to our stateroom and lie down, of full stomachs and feel the boat rock. If we had the early seating for dinner she wouldn't have had that problem.

As posted before: gravol or a patch.

Back to cruising: I would like to cruise to Hawaii, Alaska, the Panama Canal, the Caribbean, and eventually, when someone offers it, Australia from Vancouver.

Take a cruise. You won't regret it.

thanks guys for all your input....I'm not sure where we are gonna end up. Just wanted to do something special. Sounds like the cruises are the favorite. I'll check into them. My wife and I are not the "partiers" or "dancers" like some. Neither of us drink and probably the only way you'd get us to dance in public would be to get us to have a few. Not sure whether we would rather go somewhere and stay and just chill out or what, but I do like the cruise idea/concept of going several places and staying put all at the same time.

I have a timeshare in Antigua in the Caribbean that I'll sell to you for $3000. It's a Golf/Beach Resort and is GORGEOUS! Here's a link http://www.jollyharbour-marina.com/index.html

Only reason I'll sell is due to the kids. No time to go anywhere with small rugrats.
