After reading the other post on the FX4 250 I drove through the local Ford dealer lot to check it out for myself. Sure enough, they had 2 of them. One was black and one was grey.
The FX4 decal looks to the be the same as on the F-150. I looked at the black one closer than the grey one. Here's the differences I noticed:
black bumpers and grill
Rancho shocks
3"(3 1/2"?) tailpipe with chrome tip
door handles are same color as body (glossy black on the black one and glossy grey on the grey one)
two-tone black/grey cloth interior
chrome nerf bars instead of the plastic grey running boards
Both were XLT's. I wonder if the FX4 package is available on a Lariat or limited just to XLT's. Both had "vehicle not for sale" on the window sticker and had no price.
I'm gonna look again tomorrow and see if I can find any other differences.
The trucks you saw probably had the sports package, which includes the color keyed bumper and door handles and the two tone cloth interior. The Rancho shocks are part of the FX4 along with the skid plates but I think that is about it. The sport package is only available on the XLT's, too bad it should be on the lariat also. I'm suprised that it doesn't say sports package on one of the badges.
One thing you need to know about the FX4 package is that the shocks are "Rancho branded" shocks, not Rancho shocks. Most of the F150 guys that have this package will be able to tell you more about that, but basically they are the same lousy OEM shocks painted white with a sticker and red boots.
