That being said, be sure to check your state and local regs regarding just how dark you are allowed to tint your windows.
In the State of VA for example (they are pretty **** about window tint for some reason), the code has a LOT to say about window tint.
Some excerpts appear below.
No sun-shading or tinting films may be applied or affixed to the rear side windows or rear window or windows of any motor vehicle operated on the highways of this Commonwealth that reduce the total light transmittance of such window to less than thirty-five percent
Further down in the statue however, we find that Nothing in this section shall prohibit applying to the rear side windows or rear window of any multi-purpose passenger vehicle or pickup truck sun-shading or tinting films that reduce the total light transmittance of such window or windows below thirty-five percent
No sun-shading or tinting films may be applied or affixed to the front side windows of any motor vehicle operated on the highways of this Commonwealth that reduce total light transmittance of such window to less than fifty percent
No sun-shading or tinting films shall be applied or affixed to any window of a motor vehicle that (i) have a reflectance of light exceeding twenty percent or (ii) produce a holographic or prism effect
No film or darkening material may be applied on the windshield except to replace the sunshield in the uppermost area as installed by the manufacturer of the vehicle
...Law-enforcement officers shall use only such equipment or devices to measure light transmittance through windows that meet the standards established by the Division. Such measurements made by law-enforcement officers shall be given a tolerance of minus seven percentage points.

Drive and Passenger Front windows are to be tinted darker than they are now, but still legal and almost clear. it justs cuts down on sun and glare. It looks almost clear. For the 2 rear windows and the big rear window im getting 05 which is LIMO tint. Midnight tint. its gonna looook SICK!!!!!!!
The most common shades of tint carried by shops is 50%, 35%, 20%, 10%, and 5%. The lower the number the darker the tint. Supposedly the best tint is made by 3M. Although 5% is the darkest, 10% is the lowest you'd want to go. For some reason 3M 5% tint doesn't have metal in it. The film is all polyester. The 50%, 35%, 20%, and 10% are "metalized." The metal helps reflect sunlight. The 5% over time will begin to turn purple. Most of the cheap tint also turns purple over time - about a year or so.
I've had 2 vehicles including my current 2002 F250 Crew Cab done in 3M Panther Black. It's the common black tint that matches the factory tint on the back of Ford F series trucks. Using a tint meter the factory tinted rear windows of my truck measured about 35%. The "clear" front windows measured about 75%. I had 10% tint put on all windows except the windshield. Now the front measures about 9% and the back measures about 3%.
Don't use any ammonia based cleaners such as Windex on the tint. The ammonia makes the tint hazy.
