Question Trans Temps

Ok my gauges are in. My autometer gauge is reading 125 degrees and the factory gauge is almost half way up whereit always reads. After several miles it reads 150 degrees still no more movement from factory gauge. My 95 truck ran 200 degrees and up to 220 on the highway with a huge trans cooler with a fan on it. What readings are ya'll getting on your aftermarket gauges. My boost gauge seems to max out at 25psi. Pyrometer about 600 at highway speeds cruising and about 800 at wide open throttle.

Speaking of guages...I just received my autometer ultra lights and the A pillar (pyro, boost, and oil temp). This is a project that I don't feel comfortable doing myself. Does anybody out there have references for reputable installers of these guages on 6.0 diesels (I live in southern cal)??? I'm looking forward to comparing my info with yours.

No your not. I just installed an Autometer transmission gauge on my TorqShift last week. I got the same results. After 20 miles of highway driving the gauge read 150 degrees, outside air temp was between 63 and 65. So far it has not gone past the 150 degree mark. This transmission runs pretty cool. The stock gauge is damped so it will just sit there right in the middle until the temp really starts to climb. About 230 degrees and the stock gauge will move into the yellow band, 280 and its in the red. But between 100 and 220 the gauge will stay right in the middle. Dieselmann has a good article about the transmission gauge. it can be found here.

My tranny and diff both run 150º to 170º @ 65 mph under 20.5 GCVW. My pyro is a pretty steady 900º under level road conditions and short of 1200º under steep grade conditions @ 20.5 GCVW. It takes 8 minutes to cool from 900º to 300º Pyro swings from 600º to 900º running empty.
