Engine cuts out

Just thought I'd share this. My buddy just got his truck out from the repair shop at Ford, 00' s-crew 4.6. The problem he had was the engine was cutting out. Ford fixed the problem and they found water in engine????, but not from heads. When he picked up the truck and paid the bill, Ford told him to DON"T go through no more puddles an don't drive in the rain. Has ANYBODY heard of this, sounds kinda funky to me

Sounds messed up
Why didn't they just tell him to keep it in the garage, oh but don't forget to keep making your payments!!
Maybe the water got in through the top of the sparkplugs? But even then, unless he drove the truck through 5 ft. of water or something, this doesn't sound normal.

Well if that ain't a first. I don't remember the owners manual saying anything about not driving in the rain. I guess I'd better take either my Mustang or 63 F100 out of the garage so that my 01 doesn't get wet. I'd better read my owners manual again too!!
That's the worst dealer story that I've heard yet!!

probably a certain amount of miscommunication. Seems more likely your friend somehow had water spray on the top of the engine ---maybe via a hand held car wash wand, maybe thru a bad cowl gasket that allowed water to seep onto the top of engine or possibly a bad heater hose that has a leak, or hey, maybe he is submarining it thru a river crossing. i'd suspect a littel water somehow leaked into the spark plugs that are near the firewall. Rest assured, ford trucks can roll thru any reasonable "puddle" with no adverse effects (based on my personal experiences!) anyway, good to hear ford fixed it.

Got a little more update, there was an engine part that had rusted and went bad, they did'nt give the part name, but if I can get it???? I'll update. Still "don't drive in rain or through puddles" sounds kinda rediculous. Like 03f150man said Ford fixed it. Thanx for the input everybody. Rich

I'll bet it was a heater hose of some kind. The earlier ones were bad about leaking onto the COP's
I think that the 01 and up have a redesigned hose assembly. They use the spring loaded clips like on the fuel lines instead of hose clamps. My 01 has the spring clips.
