Question Gas Mileage?

O.K. I know it's here somewhere, but I can't find a posting as to what everyone is averaging in mileage!
I just got my truck right after Christmas and so far am right at 13.8 miles per gallon. 2003 Supercrew 5.4L FX4.
The truck only has a little over two thousand miles on it so far, but I am wondering what sort of mileage I should be expecting?
Oh, and does the K&N filter really increase mileage like it's touted to? Just wanting the truth, that's why I came here!

Thanks,

Jt

Well, my 01 OFFROAD 4x4, 5.4L 3.55LS gears SuperCab gets about the same @ 35,000 miles. It will probably increase this spring when the winter blend of gasolines are gone. I have seen 14.5mpg in the summer, and as low as 11.3mpg when towing has been done. Winter mileage had been between 12 & 13mpg.
You are right on par. I thing that the SuperCrew is a little heavier than mine due to the larger rear seat and doors.

Your gas mileage will probably be a bit lower as the S'crews are a bit heavier than a supercab or regular cab. I'm getting 14.5 -15 with my F150, with 3.73's, but when I'm driving in town I almost never rev over 2,000 while accelerating to speed.

For comparison sake!

I have a new 2003 F150 XLT Scab SB with a 4.2L V6. It has 1100 miles. I like this truck! I have gotten a low of 16MPG, a high of 18.7, and last week 17.159 MPG. I cant wait till Summer and we get the better blend of gas.

My driving is tame, with average acceleration from 1800 rpm to 2200 rpm.

See signature for truck /engine options.

More city than highway driving. Seemed to average about 17 last summer, down to 15 in the winter. Just noticed that this last tank netted about 16 mpg so I am hoping that with the engine fully broken in (close to 11k now) I can get above the 17 MPG mark this summer.

We will see...

Note that I have a manual and generally I am not a pedal to the metal sort of driver.

'04 SD 5.4 3.73s pulling empty 18ft long trailer got 7mpg never went over 65mph, mostly average driving, not a lot of stop and go, had to drive with overdrive off most of the time because it would just shift back and forth, not enough power to hold the gear, very disapointed, right at 16,000 miles. I triple checked the milage because I couldn't believe it! Very disapointed, it wasn't a big trailer and it didn't have anything on it, should have been 11mpg+ not very much power or milage.

'03 SD 5.4 3.73s. Getting an average of 12.2 mpg. Is this right? I drive Interstate to work and it is only 4.4 miles to work so I average about 10 miles per day (if I stop by Wal-Mart) Installed a K&N Airfilter with no noticeable difference. What are my options for gas mileage besides parking it in the garage?
