Yeah I really consider my self lucky, Every thing except the engine is original still got the philco am radio. Its a camper special with the ranger package it came with all records from the second owner who was good freinds with the original owner. I even still have the original booklet for the truck and the window sticker. It only has a little surface rust and the front of the bed is dented toward the cab but all in all for $500 I think I found the best for my money. Like I siad this is my first Ford and I am loving every minute of it. thanks everyone for all the help
well my stalling problem came back, weel everyone i need to knw what to do to rid myself of this problem forever. it will not stall out if i push the gas down all the way but if i only push it down a little it will stall out and it feels like it is not running with all its power. when it did not stall it had way more power. I had this problem the last time it rained and when it ran good it was not raining, Now it has started raining again it runs like crap please help thanks
Ok I will give that a try tommorrow and see how it goes from there. while I am at the auto parts store is there anything else i might want to get for the truck that might need replaceing or maintenance.
cap and rotor if you havent done that yet, most of all tak your time and do one thing at a time. you will figure it out sooner or later. make sure all your vacume lines are good and your gas lines are good, clean up your engine so you can see everything , my engine now is so clean you can eat off it. (see my gallery for picture) so when something leaks i see it and excatly where it is coming from. cheapo brake cleaner does wonders on a dirty engine, i think oreilys brand is only 99 cents a can.
If you haven't checked the accelerator pump, then you should. I am not sure if your parts store carries it seperate but it is easy to change out. Just a thought but I don't think it would be affected by wet weather.
changed the plug wires and it ran fine for a day, now my trucks slams around like its only gettting surges of gas and it backfires like a shotgun blast so what do i do next????????????????

You prbably got a couple plug wires crossed, it is easy to do. You will need to find #1 and follow the firing order around the cap in the direction the rotor turns. The firing order is cast into one of the intake manifold runners.
Derrick1972,
Check & recheck, I hope someone did not put on a EGR valve on it. If so plug off the line going to it... Well if you go back to all the post that we guys did for you, and you will see that you missed doing 1 or 2 of the things will listed that you should do too keep that great old truck running good. So slow down and recheck things ...Good Luck

OOPS, pushed the wrong button.
The problem with Ford egr valves is that they crud up and hang open. Unplugging the hose won't help this. You can try to clean it, replace it, or my favorite trick; use a chevy starter ship to just block it off.
