I have a 1988 XLT Bronco With a 351w. I developed an exhaust
Tick. Seeing that the exhaust was pretty old I had it replaced.
The muffler shop told Me the leak was up by the exhaust manifold. I came on this forum and checked out some of the causes. I replace the pipe on the front of the passenger manifold up to the EGR. I pretty sure the manifolds aren't cracked. Does anyone have a sugestion what it could be? Is there a pipe or sensor on the back of the manifold?
From the factory there is no exhaust manifold gasket to blow out , well for sure on my truck there wasn't. If your exhaust manifold is bad then this is a very good excuse to buy some shorty headers
You should get a piece of flexible tubing and use it as a stethoscope. That should help you determine exactly where it is coming from. It sure sounds like you have a cracked manifold.
