Dash Pads ?

Quick question

Has anyone run ito the following problem?

My 66 F250 4X4 Crew Cab came from the factory with a dash pad installed and the trim for the windshield and dash face. It was toast so i appropiated a "new used one in good cond" for it.

The problem i ran into is that the new one i have is approximatly 1.25 inches short in relation to the face of the dash. The new pad does not come down to where the old pad did. I have five sets of dash trim and all the trim fits at the current level but when raised to the edge of the "New" pad the trims are too long to fit the face.

This is a prob as i definatly do not want to weld all the trim holes closed after i just painted the lower dash section. And have no trim to fit.

The dash is a 61to64 style that i have converted the center lower sectin to accept a 66 steering collum. from what i can tell there is no difference in the curves or heights of the dash from 61 to 66 with checking on spare dashes i have. I checked on a 61,63 and a 66 and found the same on all four similar heights, widths ect.

This is buggin me so any help will be appreciated
