i have a crank shaft for a 390 plus the pistons and connecting rods for a 352 and was wondering if you could make a 352 stroker and would it have more HP than a slightly overstock 390.
you need a 390 crank and rods then you can put them in the 352 but its not going to have more power than a stock 390 becaise the bore of the 352 is 4 instead of 4.05.
thanks i wasnt sure so i thought that i would ask thought i might get some better gas milage out of it with the smaller bore and more power with the longer strok. well not everything is as good as it sounds thanks again.
might just build the 352 in to a twin turbo bad mama jamma he he he!!! some dish pisons a little head work with some custom headers blow through carb sounds like fun. wat do ya think.
If you can do it, go for it. You might want an aftermarket cam though. In addition, beef up the valvetrain if you're going to spin it much beyond 5500, which it sounds like you're going to do.
i would realy like to but i think at this point it would be cost prohibative. i want to realy bad i think if it is done right i could probably get close to 500HP with relativly low boost.
still need to know how much boost the stock heads can take and how much i will have to reduce the CR be cause you cant boost 10:1 CR with out making horse shoes out of the heads of blowing a connecting rod through the bock.
I really hate to tell you this, but you cant do it cheap. Anything involving forced induction is going to cost big $$$. Especially when FE's are involved.
I suppose you COULD go up to the junkyard, find a turbo, and cob something together.
Anything that doesn't involve used junkyard turbos and self welded up custom headers and pipes, and pvc intake tubing, is going to cost big money. If it didnt, I'd already be running one!
Then again, if you have a welder and are feeling adventerous, then I say go for it.
I've thought about this quite a bit, and here was the idea I came up with. Again, this is unverified, untried, just an idea.
Custom welded headers into the turbo.
Totally enclose the carburetor in a custom welded up box.
Run large size PVC tubing (it's cheap) from the turbo to the box.
Use a cable for the throttle linkage.
Run about 4-6 psi.
Cob up an intercooler out of old heater cores if you're feeling adventerous!
if you want a lot oh hp out of a 352 you asking a lot but heres how id go about itid get a edelbrock performer rpm intake, a holley 4 barrell truck avenger carb, bore it .060 over with some nice aluminum pistons, throw a 390 crank and rods in it, a set of ceramic coated headers, adjustable rockers, port and polish the heads and you should be ready to go for some pretty good hp but ill let you know its not to cheap, i dropped 2 grand in my 390 and its not togather yet and it was already bored .060 over with aluminum dished pistons in it, and im doing the porting and polishing myself "quote"If you port and polish the heads yourslef it takes forever to do a good job and make sure the ports match when your done, good luck let us know what you plan on doing.
well im a young pup and do get alittle ahead of myself at the prospect of lots of HP, at 22yrs i have alot of abition with little money to back it up, so i think that i will hold off on the 352 like you i have also dropped lots of money in my 390 but one of the people that i work with was going to give me a motor that he has in a pickup in his back yard and i was going to try to make the best out of it with the least amout of money becaus it would be expendable my 390 aint i put 8 months of heart and soul into it and got it running just to find out the trans that i was counting on was bad so i have officaly lost hope untill i can find a trans that i can aford.
what kind of tranny are you looking for, i have a C6 and another tranny thats still in a 76 f250 with a 390 that im parting out. im not sure what the tranny in the truck is but it will be comeing out once my 390 is running next week.
i would love to get a wide ratio toploader for it. if i could just get a c6 that would be good to because build a c6 so that it wouldnt spounge so much hp. if you would like to get rid of one and i could aford the shipping to louisiana i would gladly take one off of your hands. when will know what kinda trans is in the other truck?
well i believe its either a C4 or C6 but ill know next week sometime, you can email me if you like so we dont get in trouble talkin about buying and selling on here, my email address is in my gallery.
A 352 will run with the right parts. The 352high performance was 360hp. Not bad for smaller cubes. Hey Fordman428, ever try a 428 with 352 or 332 crank. I've always wanted to try the 332 crank combo. Less cubic inches but it ought to wind. Wonder if it would make power.........hmmm?
