After Enzo died the company kinda fell to ruin, and I know they now have investors, but I wasn't sure if soembody had purchased a significant amount of the company.
Fiat owns 90% of Ferrari with the other 10% going to investors to help pay for new projects in Fiat. 10 points to who know who owns a majority stake in Fiat withe the option to complete the purchase of the whole thing and why they don't want to touch it with a ten foot pole?
GM is the majority shareholder of Fiat with something like a 45% stake. Ford tried repeatedly in the 60's to purchase Ferrari to no avail. That was the impetus for the development of the original GT40... If you can't buy em, beat em. GM also owns a 45% stake in Japan's Fuji Heavy Industries which means that for those of you who own Subaru's your car is a GM as well.
I'll have to admit that for a person who never really liked them the new C6 Corvette and to a lesser extentthe C5 are pretty awsome cars. Although, I think the the new Vette should have a minimum of 475 - 500 bhp. The Viper is pushing those numbers and doesn't cost a whole lot more.
Originally posted by Ultramagdan The Vette is considered a budget supercar. It out performs or matches several very pricey cars, Ferrari being one of them.
At least you can get service and parts for the Vette without it costing an arm and a leg.
Not used to the 05 yet. I still like the 03-04 style.
Indeed. The oil used in Ferraris costs $79/qt and if you don't use ONLY that oil, you void the warranty. High end sportscars are just money pits. The new C6 makes them look bad on a cost/performance basis as well as maintenance, insurance, etc.,
I think the C6 is the sharpest looking Vette since the old split window Stingray.

GM also owns a big slug of Saab and owns Opel to round out the German/Swedish engineering influence.
And I believe that the C6 is being given a 400HP small block engine in its stock configuration.
Luv it!!!!!!!! Glad they finally got rid of pop up headlights. But going on looks alone, it would be a hard decision to choose between a new 'vette or a new 'stang. The MSRP and insurance would make it a no brainer though.

Corvette=mechanical nightmare
hmmmmm. thats a new one.
but I definately agree with jrs_big_ford_f150 that the old stingrays, midyears, and straight axles are what made corvettes what they are. the new stuff is IMHO junk, and looks like GM is trying to copycat a cross between Ferrari and the Acura NSX....oh well Ford really screwed up the mustang for years, and have finally got it right...hopefully (for me..and my hobbies) GM will wake up someday as well...
