I just bought a 1989 F250 4X2 XL Long bed. For an “89” with 96,000mi. it has very little, easy fixable rust, new tires, brakes, and hoses. It seems to run great so far. I was wondering if anyone new of any notable problems with this year and model. Thanks!!!

 

all 89-90 trucks with x-cab were "heavy duty", or base 1 ton vehicles.

I had mine for a while now. Problems:

Idle Air control motor went bad, it wouldn't idle. Very easy fix. Aftermarket unit works just fine.

Window motor gears. Kind of bitchy to replace. Took me 3 hours in all honesty. Dropping tools inside the door. Both failed at about the same time.

Fuel pump sending unit. The pump still works well, but registers no gas. It is integrated into the pump. You have to drop the tank and replace it.

No problems with drivetrain, either 7.5L or C6 tranny.
