My 1995 explorer knocks and rattles when under exceleration and load has anyone had a similar problem When it warms up it either goes away or lessens in severity.
Welcome to FTE sofieca The 4.0 OHV engine is prone to detonation due to carbon buildup. I posted the TSB contents almost a year ago concerning this issue in the Ranger forum, do a search and it should show up. This is fairly common on this engine; I've implemented it and it does work. Generally this happens with engine warm and under moderate loads.
On edit:
You asked if anyone else haa had this problem, and the answer is yes, it's pretty common. Also, a dirty MAF sensor is frequently associated with this problem, it's easy to clean. Do a search and you will find the process for cleaning it. IMHO, try cleaning the MAF
sensor first.

Any kind of small vacuum or air intake leak downstream from the MAF can cause it to run lean and ping. Check your vacuum hoses. Also check the lower intake manifold bolts. They come loose creating a small vacuum leak through the gasket. Usually tightening the bolts is enough to correct it.
