Hey fte guys I was wondering if any of you folks have had any
experience with the battery light flickering when you rev over
3500 to 4000k rpm? I have preformed a battery of tests allready
the usal altenator & load test on battery. The arbs test up to 3k
rpm has not triggered the light. Any intelligent responses would be great. my expy info is as follows 98, 5.4 4x2 eddie bauer.

I've had the same situation occur in my previous truck when towing in passing gear up an incline. Replaced the alternator and all was good. The truck was only a year old at the time, so I figured it was just a sticky brush or an out of round rotor that was causing it. I first noticed at night when the headlights would flicker, made me look at the dash and low and behold, the flickering Batt. light.
I noticed that on my old Ranger...and I've never had my Expy over 3500 rpms, so I can't report here. After some testing on teh Ranger, I determined that, at such high RPMs, the alternator was having a hard time regulating voltage levels--it was easy to see the progression when watching voltage output off the alternator on a voltmeter. Since the alternator worked perfect at all other RPMs and was fine on several load tests...and since I didn't drive the Ranger over 4000rpms very frequently, I decided not to worry about it.
I ran it that way for 100K, and then traded it on my Expy.
Never had a problem with the alternator, other than the intermittent battery light flickering when the truck had an excursion into the high end of the tach. I could never find an actual problem, other than some weirdness in voltage at very high RPMs. It always put out a good amount of amps, never overheated, never overcharged, etc.
