wow, that blows. it seems nobody makes a good shock for that year bronco, what do you recommend? I do very little off road driving and would like the best control and smoothest ride I can get.
thanks for the bronco info, saved me a big mistake
BTW Bistein lists this part for non-LLS vehicles BE5-2575 will this replace my LLS front shock?
So...Coming in SUPER late on this one. I did a rear coil swap on my 99 navigator today. If anyone with a navigator has an lls that takes a dump you can use expy rear coils for any 4wd from 97-02. I got mine at the junk yard today off an 09 4wd w/o lls(obviously lol) Also, all the auto parts stores were giving me one option for shocks and they were special order for $68 each. I used 99 4wd expy rear shocks. Worked like a dream and $32 in-stock. Truck rides great now, like a truck, not like a 10 million lb towncar. Going to swap out the fronts tomorrow for the Bronco shocks, I guess.
ALSO I KNOW THIS THREAD DIED A LONG TIME AGO, BUT IF ANYONE IS READING THIS I COULD USE A LITTLE CLARIFICATION. woops caps sorry
Forgive my ignorance, i just bought this truck and know little about ford suspension, but dont i need some sort of springs in the front? If I take out the front air shocks and replace them with regular shocks, wont there be nothing to keep the front end up? Thanks, hope i helped a little...
your air shocks that are in the front now are basiccly just there to level out the truck...the main suspension comes from the torsion bars,no coils needed
Yeah Ive been doing a little reading up on that. In any case I found a set of coil-overs that match the bronco part# 80001. They are Gabriels part# 43058 for about $70 a pair. Gonna go ahead with those in the morning. Cant beat the price. Thanks for the reply
illgorhythm-
Did you happen to notice if there was already a spring isoloator used in the rear? It's would be where the top of the coil spring is seated, and is made out of rubber.
I can't seem to find much information on it, other than the fact that most aftermarket conversion companies don't mention anything about it, but one does.
I can't seem to find much information about it. I've read all the instructions for the aftermarket companies, and they don't make any mention of it, other than one company. Moto Mel looked up some info for me, and he couldn't find anything about it in his research, but....
I looked at my buddies expy today, who has an expy that came with coils, and he certainly does have them.
I don't know if it may already be hidden somewhere under the existing air bag?
the only thing that I saw was the springs that I pulled off the expy had a short length of what looked like garden hose around the top of the coil where it seats against the body, however it looks as if over time it had worked its way down about a third of the way, not really doing anything. Im sure it couldnt hurt to do something similar your self, but I just sat mine in metal-to-metal and its working great for me.
