MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT Predator For 6.0L
thank you Ray
Do you know where the leak is coming from? Is it blowing out of the recovery tank? There was a thread on here not too long ago about this. You can do a search or just scroll down the 6.0 list. Some were saying disconnecting the EGR valve relieved this symptom from their trucks. It may be worth a try. It was also mentioned that running the recovery tank level a little lower than minimum helps also. As I remember some thought the recovery tank is too small. Hope this helps.
thank you Ray
Have you checked the lower radiator hose for rubbing?
Check it very thoroughly
thank you Ray
One of the "first" things to check..is the "spring type" radiator clamps on ALL the hoses, but especially the lower hose, "both ends".. These really like to break, and Ford has a service bulletin in regards to this issue to check them "all" when servicing.. Mine has broken 2!! (both on the lower hose) and more the better to look, if someone has "played" with them before.. Let us know from there what you find... I also have the Predator @ 65HP and have had no coolant leaks.. Try and get a good look..Top and bottom, to verify where its coming from..
The first few starts had the transmission a little stiff on shifts, but after about 4 starts and driving down the road in various speeds up to 60 proved the tranny and the power to work awesomely!!!Today, I found that 110 with that 23 foot truck is a lot of speed for that truck and it got up that speed in a hurry and any speeds from 70-110 were done sweeter than my old M3!!
The tranny temp, oil temp and exhaust temp are right in line with no problems. With this much power, I'll never get rid of this truck!!!
Next is Banks exhaust in a few weeks!!!!

Now with about 380 miles on the upgrade, with town and highway driving, I'm averaging 17.3. I used to average 15.5 before the upgrade.
Had to teach a lowered expedition with 22 inch rims a lesson this morning
Gave him 2 lengths head start and passed him with no problem before 50 mph. The shifting is firm and quick when standing on the pedal hard. It's all good !
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
I've experienced that too...
and have put it to good use ...
What we did is what our better halves do to us all the time...
going along in one direction and then WHAM... change subjects, change directions, and WE get confused at to what we're supposed to do next too
I've played around and found if you do it just right...
accelerate hard JUST as it shifts you can chirp the tires
just asking the tranny to do one more bad thing is all I'm doing !
but it's all good - everything I've gotten from Motorhaven is all good !!!

The problem is,, their spring steel, and difficult to cut off without damaging the hoses while in place, and some are hard to get too as well.. Otherwise, pulling the hoses loose will result in the loss of coolant.. Especially the lower hose.. The ones I've seen break all have been primarially on the lower hose, but not "always" the case.. Even if a clamp breaks doesn't mean the hose will pop off, all though it is a possibility.. They must of had a bad batch of clamps and don't think it's a large enough issue to recall them$$. Hard to believe when you consider the replacement cost of this powerplant, and the problems they are dealing with now.. And I've seen older 7.3's with missing clamps as well, but not as many.. A freind of mine was giving me a bad time when I told him about my "missing clamps" and he had bought a late build 03-04 model.. I happened to peak under his one afternoon, AND GUESS WHAT, one of his on the lower hose had "already" been repalced prior to delivery!! SHUT HIM right up!!
Long story short... Watch them close.. If you replace them, "you" foot the bill for clamps and coolant if needed.. I'm making FORD totally responsible for mine till it's off warranty.. That way,, there's no argument if there's any other problems that they could try and pin to outside repairs done.. Should you see, or have a leak now, check them first.. Or better yet, let Ford!! Their supposed too anyway!!

On the larger diameter radiator hoses (radiator side/end) top and bottom there usually is room to backup the OEM clamp.. The lower hose at the block/pump is fairly hard to put a clamp on, and is easier done (when removing the old one) with the air cleaner assy. removed.. "If" they do break, their not to bad to pull the rest of the way off and install a SS type.. The smaller hoses, heater ect., and the water outlet (top hose at block) have less room for an additional clamp.. You may be able to move them to achieve an "add on".. BUT,, personally I think it would look bad, and if there was a problem, and Ford saw that you moved/removed any clamps, it could be trouble, especially if it were coolant related.. I would just check them, or take it in and let Ford do their job, and if all OK, bring a few extra clamps of the correct hose sizes with you if you have a concern..
Have you determined the cause of your leak?? it may not even be the rad. clamps..
Don't want to spook ya.... But if someone has pulled any of the hose off it is a "possibility" of the cause..
