ok ive had enough... on the transmition, c6 , there is a switch that lets the truck start when it is in park or nutral .. im tired of mine not leting me start it. even when its in park or nutral, you have to work the shift lever to start the @#%$&!& thing. there's got to be a way to out smart it. id like to splice in an put a togle switch on the dash if possible, but how.if i put a new one in it will just go bad too in 30 years or so. why waste money.
Well, start your truck in gear one time when you don't think about checking it. Will it be cheaper to repair you truck or whatever you run into? Or to do the simple fix and replace the switch.
Gee only 30 years for an electrical componant the is subject to heat/cold/water/etc? That's pretty good.
I already had to replace the one on my 96 Windstar. It's was only 7 years old.

its all in park if i aint in it , its automatic. im just tired of adjusting it. one time it will start one time it won't. besides im the only one that drives the truck.
Two red/blue striped wires on the tranny switch....remove them and connect a toggle switch between them....or just splice them together and be done with it.
However, I agree that the switch is fcairly important and there for a real safety issue....so if you mod it you are on your own
Remember the truck can then start in gear and will, as soon as the tranny pump starts turning and pumping fluid, move....usually in reverse, just have to miss one notch with the gear selector
