Electric lock conversion

I've been wanting to do an electric lock conversion on my f-250 for keyless entry.

What's the easiest way to do it? I've seen those universal kits, but kinda wonder if it'd be a lot more work.

Do the parts swap and it would there be any harness plugs for them in my cab? It is the plain jane model.

Or would it be a lot easier to replace the door with 92-96 ones? I do need to replace the driver's door (or weld on a patch panel, either way..)..

you would have to replace the locking system and add electrical componet like powerfrom the fues box that remaines hot and power switches then a device w/ remote to lock and unlock the door its a lot of work

I changed my 82 over to power locks AND power windows. I don't remember seeing any truck with JUST power locks.
I got: the regulators with motors, complete door panels with the switches, the wiring, and two breakers for the fuse box. Everything was plug and play. Each door has a harness and there's one that runs across the dash. Every bit of wiring can be unplugged from the donor and transferred right into a plain jane truck. The lock/window harness only joins up to the rest at the fuse box where you have open spots for the required breakers.
If you want power windows too, this is an excellent way to go. Donors are any 80-6 trucks and big Broncos.
If you just want the power locks, it's best and a lot less complicated to just get an aftermarket lock kit. Good, matching door panels were particularly difficult for me to find.
Keyless entry can be easily added either way you go.

My doors do not have a harness going from the door into the cab. Did yours?

I'll probably go with power windows as well. I might just buy a whole driver's door with power if I can find one thats not beat. My passenger side is still pretty good..

Has anyone seen if the 90s doors have the same connectors? I might go with one of thoses since in the rust belt here, only trucks that are 1 year old are still rust free. .

You might also check E-Bay I just saw a complete power window & lock set-up out of a 84 XLT. It included the complete harness, window motors & lock solonoids. The guy had taken the time to unplug all the connections, so it was a plug & play.

Coverlay has new panels for about $175.00

The last bid I saw on this was $50.00

Oscar.
