installing an electric fan
1. Has anyone attempted this on their truck?
2. Is it worth the effort?
3. If I do change it over, how do I measure for a new belt size, or does the fan pulley stay in place?
I would appreciate any feed back on this topic.
One caution with mounting the temperature sensor for the fan: the instructions may tell you to stick the probe in between the rad fins. Don't. My truck started running hot when stopped about 6 weeks after the install. The vibrations pushed the fins back out of the way and left an air hole through the fins. The probe was floating in the middle and not reading right. I ended up taping the probe to the lower rad hose & the temp was stable after that.
Cheers,
Eric
Put it in there, hose clamped it down
Never leaked and runs a good temp
On my 66, I dont run a thermostat w/ the electric fan, as it came off of a car and I just got the fan
I use a switch for it
