Question Wheel bearing replacement.

Anybody out there replaced the front wheel bearings on a '97 4X4? Because I live in Italy I am only finding 'wheel bearing assemblies' on the internet. Is that the only way to go or am I missing something? Part #'s would be helpful.

Thanks.

That is the only way your going to find it. It is made by Timken Corporation. They do not make replacement bearings for these hubs. It is sold as a whole assembly which includes new antilock sensor and all. Pretty easy procedure if you have air tools and some big sockets. You will also need to get a new crush nut to hold the hub assembly in place. Once they are removed they are no good. Explorers and Expy's are set up the exact same way. Timken will not assume liability for accidents if you just replace the bearings. I have heard of people replacing the bearings only, but I have not had any luck finding the bearings anywhere. As soon as I gave them the part # on the bearing they told me that they can't get it! Sorry for the bad news.... they are pricey too.
