For you guys that are using the Tru Speed (sp?). Will using this device to correct your speedometer have the same effect as having the dealer adjust the tire size in the computer? In other words, is just adjusting the speedometer enough to get shift points, etc back in line when going to larger tires?
Since the local dealer wants $75 to make the adjustment, buying the Tru Speed would make sense due to the minimal difference in price and the ability to make future changes without paying the dealer again.
Most guys use the Tru Speed with tire sizes greater than 35", I believe the dealer can correct up to that size.
I don't believe the tru speed will effect your shift points.
You may want to look into a chip for adjusting the shift points
I was just coming back to say "never mind". I checked out SuperLift's site and they seem to indicate that the Tru Speed will correct everything I've asked about.
I still welcome input from any of you guys that use this device.
Yes.. the truspeed adjusts EVERYTHING for the new tire size. THe unit installs in the speedo wire before it reaches any point.. there fore the entire truck knows the correct speed. I love mine, and use both settings for my 35 and 38" tires. good investment, pretty easy install.
