My '94 Explorer gremlins
It was the factory installed anti-theft module in the back of the Explorer. Looked like there was some water damage in the area and the unit was burnt up. Not sure where the water came from as I've seen no evidence of it anywhere else.
The part was $180 and total cost with labor was almost $400. Ouch. No, they couldn't bypass the module.
As far as my other problem with the interior lights staying on all the time, they traced that to the lighting control module in the same location. I was told this is very expensive, so it is still not fixed.
Thanks for all the input and help with my questions.
