1985 Ranger 2.3L
Hi, great site. I have a 1985 Ranger 2.3L (1st year, I believe)for fuel injection. Problem is I smell a faint gas smell in the comming from engine compartment with no vosable leaks. Seems to be the same either with or with the motor running. Thanks for any help.

Check for cracks in the rubber hoses to the evaporative canister and smell around there is the cheap way. The expensive way is to call around to see if a garage will turn on thier smog machine to poke around under the hood with the tail pipe probe, to try and locate the leak. Look under the drivers side and see if the fuel pump or fuel filter canister is leaking. The plastic fuel lines on this vehicle work great untill someone plays rough and/or does not repair a defective line.
