Hi guys, you wont believe this one. I bought a cop car. It is a 1999 Crown Victoria with the police interceptor package. It is all black with a bunch of chrome!!
Let me tell you this interceptor engine is one fast BEAST!!! I can break the tires loose at 35 m.p.h.!! The best part about it is, the car only has 88000 miles.
Also when I drive on the freeway, no one will pass me!! Everyone thinks im a cop. Today I was at a red light and a police officer actually pulled up next to me, he couldn't stop looking at the car.
That's just plain cool. I've always dreamed of having one of those.
I used to volunteer at an auto auction outside of Tacoma, WA where they auctioned off the retired interceptors, and it was a blast to drive those around the lot. I was always disappointed I couldn't take one out on the street. I used to ask cops what mods were done under the hood, but they never would give me a solid answer, and us volunteers weren't allowed to peak under the hood. I could sure tell those motors weren't stock though.
I hate working on cop cars. Time is money and when I go for a test drive it really chokes me that everyone around me goes under the speed limit!
I did have some fun once though. I knew that one of the other guys I work with was out on a roadtest in a car with a radar detector. I saw him going quite fast down the highway so I flipped the radar on. He hit the brakes and gave me a very dirty look as I went by
I know a guy that got one of the retired cop cars, a caprice with the corvette motor, he bought it for $5.
I'd love to get some police interceptor badges for this Ranger that I am working on. I think I am gonna get it painted all black and run black Weld wheels. Thats gonna be one fast truck.
Look on ebay their are tons of them, I just sold one last month . I've had a couple of them. I worked as a road officer for several years untill getting on full time fire dept. They make really good cruiser cars for long trips.
Expensive to Maintain. But think of this if a cop eyeballed the car just think if you pull up to get gas or at the local Kwik Mart for pop and it's being robbed and the clown with the gun THINKS you're a COP. The Tombstone could read "IT WAS COOL TO DRIVE THE INTERCEPTOR"
I was doing installs on new cop cars for a while and I saw the paperwork. The ones I worked on said the police package had three options: HO alternator, inoperable dome light and the, "rear door," mod. I never could find anything on the engines.
