Is it just me or is crazy glue worthless? I don't think it has ever done what the manufacturer claims it will do or at least I can't make it work on the simplest jobs.

The 'civilian' stuff is quite lite weight. However Loctite makes alot of different version. I would check at the parts house for something stronger and ask if they could let you look at a catalog to order in something better. As I'm in maintenance I get to order from Grainger's and McMaster-Carr.

68torino, you at Ellsworth? I hadn't been by there in a few years and I see they have changed the main entrance all around. The last time I was there was not long after that B-1 fell out of the sky in front of McD's.
No I 'm not there. I work for Daktronics. Anyone wondering about what is a Daktronics, we make the endzone video scoreboards at alot of prof. sports stadiums as well as most of the LED signage at banks, schools and stores. Check them on the web, pretty cool what they can do with LEDs.
Yep, I have glued my fingers together more times than I can remember. Its amazing that as soon as it touches you skin it creates a bond, but you have to hold the item you are gluing for several minutes to maybe get the item to hold together. And then you are lucky if they work then.
I have used it for cuts. Works just as good as stitches, I just diinfect the cut with aclchohal, close it and apply crazy glue over the top, sometimes have to reapply in a few days, but the stuff works great.
You mean you can't glue your hard hat to a beam like the old commercial?
I too, have pretty much given up using adhesives of that type for the same reasons - they never seem to bond properly. Even things they should be excellent for - glass and ceramic figurines (Christmas nativity displays) they just never seem to bond well enough to trust. Have gone back to using good old Duco cement.
the reason super glue works so well on skin is because that is what it was originally designed for. It was developed to close the inscisions made during plastic surgeries. It was probably by accident that someone realized it works pretty good for gluing other stuff. One thing about the problems with it not seeming to work, if you have a really smooth or painted surface you usually need to rough it up before gluing, for some reason the glue bonds better to a rough surface.
