motorhaven pillar pod
I have on order a 3gauge (grey) full pillar pod(2001 ford superduty 7.3 ) from motor haven. My question is is this a remove the old existing a pillar plastic piece and the replace with the new that I have on order. I hope this is the case as some applications that I have seen they actually drill holes for the wires in there exiting pillar cover for the wires and then mount their new pillar pod over the top of it. I am hoping that mine will be a remove and replace as if I ever want to I can take out the pillar pod and gauges and reinstall the original pillar cover.
I think this is a great site as I have really been learning a bunch!

Thanks for the quick reply Boss300. Is it manditory that you do it this way or could I remove the old and replace with the new and return it to stock status if I wanted to. Sorry for the dumb questions.

I thought about trying to do it where I didnt have to drill a hole but decided that it wasnt worth it. I dont think there is any way to mount the pod on the pillar without the stock plastic piece on it. I figured if I ever trade my truck and dont keep my guages, I'll let someone else worry about the hole in the pillar. The guage pillar mounts to the stock pillar by drilling small holes through both of them and pushing in little plastic fasteners much like the ones that are used to hold on door panels.
