When shopping for a car or truck what ads or kind of ads get your attention and appear the most straight forward and honest in the newspaper or automart magazines. The coloful explosive ads or the more simple balck and white or single color ads ??
What information is important to you besides price ??
And is the availability of a FREE Carfax and other information important ?? Do you bother to call or do you just stop by the dealership selling the vehicle you saw in the ad ??
I really dont pay any attention to ads.I know what i want and i know where to find it .I'm a little leary of buying a vehical from an ad.I prefer to buy a vehical from someone i know or by the reference given to me by a friend.but then i live in a rural area where everyone knows everyone,so that might not work for you.when i buy from a lot i always find out who the previous owner was and speak to them .Flashy ad dont impress me much
i dont pay mich attention to the ads either i buy only ford trucks and when i see what i wantil either buy it or pass on it, i dont think what they in the ads has a lot to do with anything, the only real way you will know what its like is if you go look at it and see for yourself.
Are we talking new or used?
Free carfax is good, almost everyone offers it now. Sometimes you have to request it, make sure it's a current one. And if you have access, run it again yourself.
One thing we did, when we saw a truck in a nice ad, was google the dealer and look for customer complaints, lawsuits, etc. We eliminated a few that way. Also ask your friends/family etc. what they know about the dealer, if he has a good local rep or if anyone's bought anything from him. Just because someone's been "in business 27 years" doesn't mean he's reputable.
The biggest, flashiest advertisers usually have the most to spend, therefore try to recoup more on their sales markups. Comparison shop!!!
