There are aftermarket roll pans available, but I dont know who carries them. My dad has one on a 65 shortie, I like it but I think he will eventually remove it.
I was looking at his today and its pretty simple, just a piece of sheet metal that conforms to the bed contour and has a 90 degree bend where the tail gate meets it. Of course it has a license plate recess in the middle. It is also welded on.
You can make them fairly easy. My buddy that owns a shop has made a ton using a table top to make the 90 degree bend, and a pole to bend it with
Im going to make one for my truck soon.
If you find one aftermarket, let me know
Another trick is to take an old bed side top from a 64-66 cut below the belt line and drill the spot welds out and place this upside down between the bed bottom end caps. Nice rolled edge that matched the curve of the bed bottom. Add in a licence plate opening if so desired...
The bed side is in two pieces, with the top being what you want, cut just below the body line (beltline) where the wheel opening is.from front to back of the bed along a horizontal line.. Heres where a sawzall will work excellent. I use a cutting torch with a small flame to cut them out and plenty of speed.
Make shue the cuts vertical are more than the witdh between the bed end caps to allow for a screwup.
After the bed top is loose flip it over and remove the leftover material from the formed flange. A spot weld cutter is needed or a 1/8th then 3/8 drill thru of the spots. This remaining flange is the top section that is under the tailgate. you must weld in sides to mount it up to the rear inside bed caps.
The curvature of the bed side "bottoms up" closley matches the bottom caps of a bed side. Make some brackets and fit to your bed.
Wyatt at slick 60s has a home made roll pan from a bed side on his f-250 with a licence plate bucket and fender welt trims where it meets the bed.. he even went as far as to recycle the fender supports from some front fenders to add additional support to the mid pionts.
