I'm bored and too much time on my hands tonight. I just cruised the weights and capacities string looking at the difference between the long and short box truck. They both are listed as GVRW of 9900#. How can that be? One is 141" WB and the other is 158" One has a 6.5 bed and the other has an 8' bed. How can they weigh the same?
But that is not the lite weight.
Gross Vehicle Rated Weight is the weight of the truck and contents.
IF you are towing then it is the weight of the truck+contents+tounge weight
The actual weight you can haul on the truck is less for the bigger truck because it weighs more, about 4 or 500 pounds.
Look at the base curb weight before engine chioce.
F350 SRW SC 4x4 141.8 in. wb. 6.75 foot box =6007 pounds
F350 SRW SC 4x4 158 in. wb. 8 foot box = 6170 pounds
But both are capable of 9,900 GVWR
Then you go to the next chart and see that the 250/350 properly equipped GCWR for the
6.8 L,4.30:1 = 20,000
6.0 L 3.73:1 = 20,000
6.0 L 4.10:1 = 20,000
But if you try to cross the scales with that gross weight and you have 9,900 pound plates, they will nail you for 10,100 pounds overweight.
20,000
