My 86 drivers door window wont go up. This is my first truck w/electric windows. When it worked it was faster going up/down than the right side. The passenger side still works ok. Do you think its in the door vs. a fuse or wire in the truck?
Hold the button in the "up" position while slamming the door with the key "on".
If that doesn't work, try kicking the inside bottom of the door while again holding the button up
It could also be off track. My driver side window got stuck in the down position. I thought the motor was bad. Pulled the motor loose, left the wires connected, hit the switch and it turned.
Turns out it just rolled down too far, and the gears weren't meshing properly. With a little fenagling, I got it back together and it works fine. I'm just careful not to roll the window all the way down.
you can try pushing the switch with the key on and look at the interior lights, if they dim, you are getting power and ground to the motor. so then you know your motor is bad if it dims the dome light. my truck just did the same thing. a new motor is about 75 bucks.
Does the motor turn? If it is turning, it could be the plastic worm gear, the teeth on 'em break and you've gotta pull the motor out to replace the plastic gear. Pretty inexpensive.
The dimming lights isn't necessarily a good indicator. Mine would dim, which indicates the motor is pulling a load, but mine was mechanically bound, so even though the motor worked, it couldn't turn.
check the wires btween the door and door post they flex there and will break in the boot if you pull thye door panel you can get to the switch wiring and check it with a light
